MODULE SELECTION

Course Timeline

1st Year

Mandatory Modules

In the first year of your law degree, all modules are mandatory. You will study 6 out of 9 of the core modules required to obtain a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD).  These are : Tort Law, Contract Law, EU Constitutional Law, UK Constitutional Law, The Individual and the State, Introduction to English Law and Legal Method.

2nd Year

Mandatory+ 3 Optional Modules

In the second year of your law degree, only Criminal Law is a mandatory module. However, it is strongly advised that you opt to take Land Law and Trusts Law, as this will ensure that you study all of the modules required for a Qualifying Law Degree.

You are able to pick your other 3 modules depending on what you are interested in. You also have the opportunity to select a non-law or language module.

3rd Year

 Dissertation+ Optional Modules

In the third year of your law degree, you must complete a mandatory dissertation which is worth 40 credits. You must then select modules which account for the remaining 80 credits.

You can do this by opting for 4 20-credit modules or 3 20-credit modules and 2 10-credit modules. You also have the opportunity to select a non-law module.
